Product Description

Ginger — Fresh & Dried — Full Description

Indian ginger is prized for its high oleoresin and volatile-oil content, and we export it in fresh, dried flake and powder formats from growing clusters in Karnataka, Kerala, Assam and the North-East. Fresh rhizomes are washed, brushed, cured and graded by weight — typically 100 g-plus and 150 g-plus counts — then packed in ventilated cartons or mesh bags with cold-chain handling to the port so they arrive plump and firm rather than shrivelled. Dried ginger is prepared by washing, slicing to a uniform 3–10 mm and drying to 10% maximum moisture, protecting the pungent gingerol fraction that drives flavour and functional value; the same dried material is milled to a 60–80 mesh powder for spice blends, bakery, beverage and nutraceutical use. Buyers commonly specify volatile-oil content, and our typical dried material assays between 1.5% and 2.5% volatile oil depending on origin and season, verified by lab report. Every dried lot is metal-detected, sieved and tested for moisture, ash, acid-insoluble ash and microbiology; fresh consignments travel with a phytosanitary certificate and, where the destination requires it, a pesticide-residue report against EU MRLs. Applications range from fresh retail and food-service supply through spice grinding, instant-tea and ginger-shot production, to ayurvedic and nutraceutical extraction. Both spot and annual contract volumes are supported.

FAQ

Ginger — Fresh & Dried — Buyer Questions

What volatile-oil and moisture levels does your dried ginger carry?

Dried ginger typically assays 1.5–2.5% volatile oil at 10% maximum moisture. The exact figures for your lot are stated on the Certificate of Analysis, and we can pre-select lots when you need the higher end of the oil range.

How is fresh ginger protected during a long sea voyage?

Rhizomes are cured after washing to heal the skin, graded to remove damaged pieces, packed in ventilated cartons or mesh, and moved under cold chain to the port. For distant markets we recommend reefer shipment at 12–14°C with controlled ventilation.

What is the minimum order quantity for ginger?

Our standard MOQ is 1 MT for dried grades and 1 FCL for fresh ginger. Trial and sample-order quantities can be arranged for first-time buyers, and mixed-product containers are accepted so you can consolidate several items in one shipment.

What is the production and shipping lead time?

Dried ginger ships in 12–15 days; fresh ginger is loaded within 7–10 days of confirmation subject to harvest availability. Transit time then depends on destination — typically 18–25 days to Europe, 22–30 days to North America, 7–12 days to the Middle East and 12–18 days to Southeast Asia from Indian ports (Nhava Sheva, Mundra, Chennai).

Which Incoterms and payment terms do you work on?

We quote EXW, FOB, CFR, CIF and DDP. Payment is normally 30% advance with balance against scanned Bill of Lading, or an irrevocable Letter of Credit at sight from a prime bank. Terms for repeat buyers are negotiable.

What export documents are provided with each shipment?

Commercial Invoice, Packing List, Bill of Lading / Airway Bill, Certificate of Origin, Phytosanitary Certificate (where applicable), Certificate of Analysis for the lot, FSSAI licence copy and any buyer-specific documentation such as health or halal certificates.

Can we get samples before placing a bulk order?

Yes. We ship 100–500 g representative samples by courier against freight cost, drawn from the same lot you will be offered. Pre-shipment samples of the actual production lot are also sent for approval on request.
